Liverpool are considering a January transfer bid for Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The Guardian reports today that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is keeping an eye on Oxlade-Chamberlain's potential availability. However, the politics between the two clubs make such a move unlikely.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger claimed earlier this month to have opened talks over a new deal for the 23-year-old. That came as a surprise to Oxlade-Chamberlain.
But Arsenal won't be interested in selling Oxlade-Chamberlain to a rival at the top of the Premier League. They also won't be interested in selling any player to a club with whom they clashed in 2013 over Arsenal's bid for Luis Suarez. The Gunners bid £1 more than the £40million Liverpool would listen to offers for the Uruguayan. That caused the Reds' owner John W Henry to wonder what "they are smoking" at the Emirates.
A move to Liverpool for Oxlade-Chamberlain looks highly unlikely.
Juve Chief Allegri Keen To Succeed WengerJuventus head coach Maximiliano Allegri wants to take over at Arsenal if Arsene Wenger retires at the end of this season.
Reports today suggest that Allegri's agent has already been in contact with the Arsenal hierarchy about the prospect of replacing Wenger.
Allegri has won two Serie A titles in the two years since he replaced Antonio Conte as Juve boss. The side are four points clear at the top of this season's table with a game in hand over second-placed Roma.
But Allegri's relationship with the Italian press is poor. He believes he hasn't received the credit he is due for his part in Juve's triumphs and is looking to move on at the end of the season.
For his part, Wenger said last week that he will decide his future in the spring. At that point he will have a better idea as to how Arsenal's season has panned out. Wenger only signed a new contract at the Emirates after the Gunners defeated Hull City in the 2014 FA Cup Final.
Arsenal are believed to have compiled a shortlist of potential successors to Wenger. The RB Leipzig coach Ralph Hassenhuttl is on the list and he has already confirmed that talks took place in the summer. Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is admired by many at Arsenal while Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone isn't expected to leave the La Liga side until the end of next season.
Reus In New Arsenal LinkBorussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus is once again being linked with interest from Arsenal should Alexis Sanchez fail to sign a new deal with the club.
The Daily Mail claims that Arsene Wenger has made the 27-year-old Reus his principal target should the talks with Sanchez fail to come to an agreement before the end of the season.
But Reus has always shown a marked reluctance to entertain any thoughts of a move to the Premier League. He has spent the past five years at Dortmund, his home-town club, and seems to be in no rush to move. That isn't expected to change, at least in the short-term.
Five Interested In JenkinsonFive clubs have enquired about the availability of Arsenal full-back Carl Jenkinson.
Watford are the latest club to show an interest in the 24-year-old who will be allowed to leave Arsenal on loan in January. Hull City, Swansea City, West Ham United and Championship side Aston Villa are also keen.
Arsenal will sanction a loan move for Jenkinson but are unlikely to sell any of their players in the January transfer window.
